Leading off the historic run was Kamiah Mounger, who earlier in the day ran the second-fastest 400m time in the state at 55.66. She got out aggressively, breaking the stagger by the 200m mark and holding that lead through the first exchange with a ~56 split.
On the second leg, Khamrin Harper took the baton cleanly and attacked the curve, maintaining Clinton's advantage. She stayed composed down the stretch, splitting ~57 while keeping Pearl High School close behind.
Caitlyn Magee handled the third leg, running stride-for-stride with Pearl for most of the lap. She held her position well and came through in ~59, setting up the anchor leg.
MaKenzie Holiday took the baton with a slight lead and a state record within reach. She pushed the pace early, hit the 200 with momentum, and powered down the final straightaway. Splitting ~59, she secured the win and stopped the clock at 3:52.89.
The finishing time broke Clinton's own state record by nearly two seconds, further cementing their dominance in the event. They now hold three of the five fastest 4x400m relay times in Mississippi history.
Clinton still has a few meets to push this record even faster, with their final showing taking place at the MHSAA 7A State Championships. Just how fast can they go, and will they break this record again?
