Margaret:
Hey! The Oxford eagle invite was a complete success! It was a bit
chilly earlier on in the day but it warmed up and felt amazing. It was
such a beautiful day for a meet! It was really fun sitting around after
my races and hanging out with my teammates. A lot of kids come out to
our meets to watch their friends and stuff so it's always a large group
on the infield cheering us all on! I got to race against some of my
Tupelo friends this weekend (Christina Daniels & Savannah Hudgins)
in the 32 & 16 and they are so sweet! It was good to race with some
people I usually only race in XC. I had a great race in the 32 and was
really worn out by the time I got to the 16 but that's good training for
me. It's good to push yourself even when you're tired so you can see
what you can do! Oxford had a great day as a whole, and we took home a
1st place win, which was exciting! Charli Kendricks had her first chance
to compete in pole vault this weekend and went 8-6 which was awesome!
She ended up winning. Really happy for her and it's awesome to have
someone who is motivated like she is. Our sprinters did really well this
weekend, too. Proud of them as always. We are headed to the Houston
Classic next weekend in Germantown, TN and I cannot wait! Just another
chance to compete and get better!
Hey
guys! It's Swayze! This past weekend Oxford competed at the Eagle
Invitational meet at our home track. The weather was perfect! Both the
Oxford girls and boys team won the meet! I did not have a very good
mile, but Emily Hankins did very well and placed second! Margaret placed
second in the two mile and set a new PR! My 800 went well, and my 4 by
400 meter relay team (which included Emily Hankins, Sylvia Culpepper,
and Jakiara Dunn) won in a close race! All the Lady Chargers did great!
Tiara King blew away her competitors in the 200 meter, the 100 meter, 4
by 100 meter relay, and the 4 by 200 meter relay. Charlie Kendricks won
girls pole vault, and it was her first meet! Shelby McEwen, a high
jumper for the Oxford boys team, jumped 7 feet at the meet and is now
tied for second in the nation! This weekend, our team is going to the
Houston Track Classic! I can't wait for good competition, and to watch
all our athletes improve!
Emily: This past week, the Tenacious Trio competed in the Oxford invitational. It was a perfect day for a track meet and a very successful day for both the Chargers and the Lady Chargers. The meet started out with Margaret Pepper and I bringing in 2nd and 3rd places in the 3200 with PRs for the season. This was followed by the entire trio competing in the 1600m. I got my PR for the season at 5:35 and 2nd place. The day was rounded out with the 4x4 where the team received first place with a PR of 4:16! It was a very good day with strong competition and nice wins! I can't wait to see what the path to state will hold for the Tenacious Trio!
