Hey everyone! My name is Margaret Adams and I run for OHS as well. I usually run the 3200m and 1600m I really enjoy doing the 2mile, and always have. The mile was something I was brought into this year and it's been a great experience so far, and a good way to get my speed up. I love being able to run alongside Swayze and Emily, as they push me in everything I do! We all know each others weak points in a run, and try to encourage each other when we see that one is getting to that. We have become so close that we can tell if someone is not feeling too good, based on just their breathing pattern not sounding how it usually does. I love being on this team because we all have become so close. The sprinters have such respect for the distance girls, and we have a ton of respect for them as well. We all cheer as loud as we can for our girls and everyone has so much talent so it's a lot of fun to watch them zoom by. We had a relay meet last Friday and it was a ton of fun! It got canceled halfway through due to rain, but the girls were able to bring home a few 1st place medals in the events we did compete in! Our sprinters did amazing like always and the distance girls were introduced to the 4x800 which is a new event for us to compete in. It was much anticipated and we had a ton of fun doing it! It started pouring by the fourth leg (Swayzes time to shine) which was intense to watch! We have the Oxford Eagle Invitational this Friday and I'm ready to get out there and go hard with my teammates!
Hi, my name is Emily Hankins and I am also a part of Oxford High School's distance Tenacious Trio. I am a senior, while Swayze and Margaret are underclassmen. Often times older girls quit running because they lose their love for running and competing, but these two girls have kept my love for this sport so alive!! We have become best friends--making practices a time to bond and become closer. We all have different strengths and weaknesses, and, because we have each other, we are able to use those to push each other every day.
This past weekend, we competed in a Relays meet. I have been running for 6 years and this was my first time participating in a meet like this. Unlike my usual 1600, 3200, 800, or 4x4, I got the chance to run WITH my trio plus one in a 4x8. It was even more fun than we imagined it would be! I also got to compete in a 400 which is faster paced then what I'm used to. It was such a nice opportunity to push myself and work on speed in an actual competition! We have the Oxford Invitational this weekend. Hopefully the rain will hold out so The Tenacious Trio can strike again!
