Jenastia Peters and Chris Hudnall are blessed with athletic talent, capable of winning national championship titles later this month.

16-year-old Jenastia completed her sophomore season at Poplarville High School and racked up impressive statistics.

Peters said, "I long jump and I triple jump and my best in the long jump was 17 feet, 11 and a-quarter inches and my best in the triple jump was 37 feet, 11 inches.

Youth Xpress Track Club Coach Phill Travis says the skies the limit when it comes to Peters.

"She has the potential to achieve anything in life that she wants." He added, "She made the Junior Olympics last year in long jump and triple jump and is ranked number six in the nation."

"This year we're going to get gold, I believe that in my heart, the way she's performing now."

Travis says Jenastia hasn't been beaten this year in the triple jump.

Peters says knew she could develop her track and field talents when she was in junior high.

"It was in the 7th grade when I tried out just to be with my friends and I realized that I'm actually good at this."

12-year-old Chris Hudnall attends D'Iberville Middle School. It didn't take long for Hudnall to fine tune his talents on the track.

He'll be competing in three events at the Junior Olympics National Championships.

Coach Travis said,"Hudnall is a great athlete. He runs the 100, 200 meters and he also does the hurdles."

Hudnall says he really enjoys the hurdles.

"The 200 hurdles is my best event because it was the first time I ever did the hurdles and I was very confident."

He stated that,"My best time in the 100 meters was a 12 point four seconds, I jumped 15 feet 7 inches in the long jump and was clocked in 29 point thirty-eight seconds in the 200 meter hurdles."@

Hudnall and Peters are preparing for their first national competition and they will be representing the state of Mississippi proudly.
