District 8 Regional Meets @ Long Beach
Somewhere along the way, the terminology used for Division Meets has gotten confusing. Apparently, now in Cross Country we compete in Regional Meets, but in the Bottom Six we are doing this by district. Most schools in the Bottom Six Counties are in District 8 - so I'm going to break down the matchups for you here.
Long Beach will be hosting the festivities, and there's quite a lot that goes into planning and pulling off a meet this size. Coach Olan Welch and Athletic Director Forrest Williams have always done a great job, and we are always in good hands there. Coach Welch had this to say about the upcoming meet, "Long Beach is proud to be hosting the Regional Cross Country Meet. We are expecting a total of 26 high schools altogether in the Class 1A, 4A, 5A and 6A races. We think that everyone will be pleased with the manner in which the meet is run-off. We wish all the schools that are participating the best of luck and hope that all the athletes participating perform at their peak level."
I agree with Coach Welch about athletes performing at their peak level, if the weather cooperates we should have a great day of racing for Cross Country on the coast.
