Meet Information
George County High School will be hosting the MHSAA Region 4 Cross Country meet on Thursday, Oct 26, 2023. The meet will be held at 9284 Old Hwy 63S, Lucedale, MS 39452
All Class 6A, Region 4 teams are invited as well as other schools from other classes and regions. Trophies will be awarded specifically for the top three individual finishers, boys and girls, from Class 6A, Region 4 as well as team trophies for the top three teams, boys and girls, from the same class. Additionally top three trophies will be awarded to the overall individual finishers, boys and girls, as well as the top three teams, boys and girls, regardless of class or region. Thus some teams can be awarded more than one trophy.
Teams are limited to 10 entries per varsity team. The entry fee is $75 per gender, or $150 for both genders. There will be a $5 charge per car entrance fee. Please make checks/POs out to George County High School. These can be brought on day of meet
This 5k race will be run almost entirely on grass and trail and encompasses hilly sections, sandy terrain, curves, straightaways, with other typical trail conditions.
Girls varsity run begins at 4:30 and boys varsity at 5:15. If a runner is near the halfway point by 35 minutes into the run, they will be shuttled to the finish line. Please time arrivals to the school no sooner then 3:15 to allow for end of the day traffic to disperse. Use the north entrance to the school (large GCHS sign is at this entrance) and proceed to park buses by the football stadium. Cars can be parked in the lot adjacent to the start/finish area. Registration can be completed and tags picked up near the finish line where tents will be set up. Bathrooms will be available via the the football stadium across the parking lot. A map of the venue is attached and one can also be picked up at registration. Coaches will meet at 4:00 near the starting line
