Summer Track Chat: Steve Shoto

The Pearl, Mississippi senior reflects on his senior season, life outside of track, and more.

MS: LOOKING BACK ON THE SEASON DID YOU ACCOMPLISH YOUR GOALS AND WHAT YOU SET OUT TO DO?

SS: Well, I did for the 400m Dash, which was 47. For the 800m the goal was to break 1:50, but i fell short with 1:51. Far as the State championship i did reach my goals I got two individuals state titles and two relay titles , so i did.

MS: ARE THEY ANY CREATIVE OR FUN WORKOUTS YOU DO?

SS: My favorite workout is the the 600m breakdown.  This workout is when you run a 600,500,400,300,200,100 at a certain pace , and the rest gets shorter and shorter.

MS: WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES OUTSIDE OF TRACK?

SS: My hobbies outside of track are playing basketball, drawing, and playing disk golf.

MS: DO YOU HAVE ANY SUPERSTITIONS OR RITUALS?

SS: I pray to God before every race.

MS:  WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF IN YOUR CAREER?

SS:I am most proud of winning state three out of four years  as a team, and finishing my HS career #2 Alltime in the 800 in mississippi next  to my Coach, George Kersh.
