Mississippi high school track and field athletes posted several personal records across multiple meets this week.
Giuliana Settle (Picayune) ran 13:06.10 in the 3200 meters at the JT Relays on March 12, improving from her previous best of 14:50.00. The freshman's time ranks #86 in Mississippi and #19 among freshmen, and she placed second of 11 competitors. Settle also set a personal record in the 1600 meters at the same meet, running 6:05.99 to improve from 6:15.05.
Madison Jacobs (Pass Christian) clocked 12.81 in the 100 meters at The Return of the Merchants & Marine Relays on March 14, dropping from her previous mark of 13.32. The junior won the race in a field of eight competitors and ranks #116 in the state and #39 among juniors. Jacobs also recorded a personal best in the 200 meters, running 26.84 to improve from 27.41.
Layla Lester (Corinth) ran 12.48 in the 100 meters at the Florence JV Meet #1 on March 10, improving from 12.81. The time set a school record for Corinth High School and ranks #50 in Mississippi. Lester won the event in a field of 47 competitors.
Lenariah Armstrong (Laurel) posted 12.80 in the 100 meters at the Sabbatini Relays on March 12, improving from 13.11. The senior placed second of 27 competitors and ranks #113 in the state and #27 among seniors.
Cora Nelson (Coastal Mississippi Wildcats) ran 12:38.33 in the 3200 meters at the Coastal MS Wildcat Open on March 14, improving from 14:23.58 set in April 2025. She placed third of 11 competitors and ranks #46 in Mississippi. Nelson also set personal records in the 1600 meters (6:04.16, improving from 6:27.08) and 400 meters (1:11.27, improving from 1:15.15) at the same meet.
