At the Magic City Invitational, junior Nadia Hobson from Southaven High School opened up her indoor season with a ridiculous 60mH performance that will forever be etched in the record books.
On December 6th, Nadia took to the starting blocks for her first indoor race of the year. Going into this race, she was the top seed and was ready to defend her spot. When she came through the line, the clock showed an incredible 8.80. This time marked a huge personal best from her old time of 9.11, and it also marked a new state record. Her time of 8.80 puts her ahead of Lenasia Drummond's 8.84 state record set back in 2023.
She has just come off a runner-up finish in the 100mH at the 2025 MHSAA 7A State Championships and is one of the favorite athletes in the hurdles going into the 2026 season. To show this much improvement in the first weeks of indoor season is practically unheard of, and means Nadia Hobson has clearly been putting in the work during the off-season.
There is still a lot of indoor season left to run, but in just a few weeks, one state record has already fallen. Keep an eye on Nadia Hobson as she continues to compete and chase more records.
