Another week of Mississippi cross country is in the books, so we're back to highlight more athletes through the Most Improved Series! This week, we'll highlight athletes who made the biggest jumps compared to their performances at this same time last year.

We will be zooming in on all performances from September 1-14, 2024, and comparing them to the same time period this year to see which athletes have improved the most.

With an improvement of about nine and a half minutes, Kaliyah Dyer from Jefferson County High School has improved the most out of all Mississippi athletes from this same time last year. Her improvement took place at the Opener, where she ran a time of 40:33. The second most improved athlete was Issabella Martinez from Pass Christian High School, who dropped about eight and a half minutes to run a 26:01. Dropping that much time while getting into a competitive 5000m time is extremely impressive.
