Charve Gibson - Jefferson County High School
In a tightly contested race between Charve Gibson and Ja'Niyah Taylor of Murrah High School, it was Charve who pulled away in the end. She secured 8,850 votes, earning the title of Mississippi Girls Indoor Performer of the Year. Now, let's dive into the performances that led her to this achievement!
At the Magic City Invitational, Charve delivered standout performances, recording a 16-11 mark in the long jump and 36-3.25 in the triple jump. These impressive jumps solidified her as the top triple jumper in the state, and she came within just 0.25 inches of claiming the top long jump spot as well. Her triple jump mark of 36-3.25 ranks among the top 25 in the nation for sophomores.
For the second consecutive year, Charve has dominated the indoor jump scene, and there's no doubt she'll carry that momentum into the outdoor season. She is set to make her outdoor debut at Rumble in the Jungle at Madison Central High School!
Carson Kessler - Tupelo Christian Preparatory School
With a total of 6,357 votes, Carson Kessler has been crowned the Mississippi Boys Indoor Performer of the Year! This standout pole vaulter earned the title with a major personal best, so let's take a closer look at his performances.
For over a year, Carson's pole vault personal best stood at 13-6, dating back to last indoor season. Despite competing throughout the outdoor season, he was unable to surpass that mark. However, everything changed this year when he finally had a breakthrough, clearing 14-0 and setting a new all-time personal best. This impressive vault ties him for 8th on the Mississippi indoor all-time rankings.
Carson is set to make his outdoor season debut at the Pearl Season Opener at Pearl High School!
