Mississippi Boys Performer of the Week: September 2-8

With the 2024 cross-country season underway, it is time for the return of Mississippi's Performer of the Week.

Athletes have already been putting great races across the state and are not slowing down anytime soon. Take a look at what the top performers accomplished this week and vote for who you think deserves the title of Performer of the Week!

Andrew Brown - Tupelo High School: At the Tupelo Invitational, Andrew Brown of Tupelo High School ran the fastest time in Mississippi with his split of 15:09. This time earned him the win and ranks him as the 3rd fastest sophomore in the country. It is also the 2nd fastest time ever run by a Mississippi High Schooler.

Jaquavion Bryant - Pearl High School: The Reigning MHSAA 7A Cross Country Champion, Jaquavion Bryant from Pearl High School was the fastest Mississippian at The Opener. He placed 2nd overall with a time of 16:31.

Ryder Warhurst - Alcorn Central: At the Hickory Flat Invitational, Ryder Warhurst of Alcorn Central High School won the race with a time of 17:26. This time is almost a minute and a half faster than his time last year at this same meet.

Dallas Stricker - Heritage Christian Academy: At the Gulf Coast Stampede, Dallas Stricker of Heritage Christian Academy finished 14th overall in a time of 17:11. He was the fastest Mississippi finisher at this out-of-state meet.

Hyrum Boone - Clinton High School: Leading his team to sweep the podium, Hyrum Boone of Clinton High School won the French Camp Invitational at 17:48.
