No. 1 Pearl High School sealed themselves as the best cross-country team ever to run on Mississippi trails. They dominated from start to finish, winning every major Mississippi race this year and rattling out-of-state standings, no other team comes close to the domination of this team. Finishing their season with the first ever 7A State Title, this team will be forever etched in Mississippi running history
No. 2 Tupelo High School shined when it mattered most. Although consistently having stellar placements all season, this team showed out in the post-season with some of their most impressive performances of the year. Led by the star-studded brothers Andrew and Taylor Brown, they swept the 2-3 spot at the MHSAA 4A-5A-6A-7A State Cross Country Championships and claimed the runner-up team title.
No. 3 Oak Grove High School came out of the shadows in the latter half of the 2023 Mississippi Cross Country season. After losing several seniors last year, the future of this team was questionable. However, led by Grayson Taylor and Matthew McGuire, this team competed fiercely all year and earned a third-place team finish at the MHSAA 4A-5A-6A-7A State Cross Country. These underdogs started their season with a 17:41 team average and finished the season with a 16:56 average, dropping almost a whole minute throughout the season.
