Mississippi Runners Impress on Day One at RunningLane

HUNTSVILLE , Ala. --- The excitement was palpable as the inaugural day of the RunningLane Track Championships kicked off, where they contested the 3200m runs. The competition was fierce, and several Mississippi athletes shone brightly.

Tupelo's Brookelyn Morgan and Taylor Brown led the charge. Morgan delivered an impressive performance, clocking in at 11:41.90, securing fourth place in section three. Not far behind, Brown ran a solid 9:42.60, landing sixth in section five.

The day's highlights also included a breakthrough performance from St. Andrews' Emily Ireland. Ireland shattered her personal best, breaking the 11:50 barrier for the first time in her high school career. She finished runner-up in section four, crossing the line in an impressive 11:46.68.

The accolades didn't stop there. Lukas Dykes, Jeb Hamilton, Sam Johnson, and Abbey Sanders left their marks on the competition. Dykes ran a commendable 9:57, followed by Hamilton at 10:00, Johnson at 10:08, and Sanders, who finished with a respectable time of 12:32. All these runners have secured their spots on the Milesplit Mississippi 2nd-Team, a significant achievement in their burgeoning track careers.
