Heidi Hudson #3 Pentathlon in U.S., Breaks 2 state records

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- At the Last Chance Invitational held in Birmingham, Alabama, Sumrall senior Heidi Hudson recorded no the No. 3 mark in the United States in the High School Girls Pentathlon. Perhaps even more impressive, Hudson broke not one, but two state records during her competition, which included five events in one day.

For those unfamiliar with the event, the pentathlon consists of the Long Jump, the High Jump, the Shot Put, the 60-meter hurdles, and the 800-meter run. 

In the Long Jump, the Sumrall senior leaped to a lifetime best of 19-4, becoming the first-ever Mississippi High School Girl to clear 19 feet indoors. This mark also slots her at No. 12 in the United States in the High School Girls Long Jump.

However, Hudson was not done yet. In the High Jump, she cleared another lifetime best of 5-8.5, breaking another state record and the No. 6 mark in the United States for the High School Girls' High Jump.

Heidi Hudson permanently etched her name in the record books with her pentathlon performance at the Last Chance Invitational, and there is undoubtedly more to come from the Sumrall sensation.
