Anna Caroline Crouch of Saltillo High School made a statement to take the win in the Girl's Silver Division race.
A 19:35 5k runner, she was one of the top entries going in, and Crouch made a strong early move to position herself in the front. She held a 10-second lead over the chase pack at the mile marker.

That lead would only grow as the race went on. She finished the race in a time of 20:17 for the 5k and won by 35 seconds. This marks back-to-back wins for Crouch and her fastest performance on Choctaw Trails.
Another notable performance from the Girl's Silver Division was runner-up Hannah Mitchell. She ran an impressive tactical race.

At the beginning of the race, Mitchell placed herself behind the chase pack, and as the race progressed, she slowly worked her way up.
Passing multiple girls in the process, the Pearl River Central senior finished in a time of 20:42 to place runner-up. This marks two races with back-to-back PRs for Mitchell.
The momentum is in her favor and makes her poised for great postseason competitions in a few weeks.
On the team front, Madison Ridgeland Academy, the top team in MAIS 6A, walked away with the Girl's Silver Division title. Led by the freshman, Mae Ellen Mallet, they placed three runners inside the top 10.
This was more than enough to take the win over Brookhaven High School with over a 40-point margin of victory.
