The Rundown: 

On the Varsity Girls' side, we have quite the list of athletes ready to toe the line tomorrow. Brookelyn Morgan, the All-Milesplit Mississippi XC No. 1 Ranked High School Girl will be competing on her home turf.

Morgan is undefeated against Mississippi competition and looks strong in every race she has competed. She went 19:08 at Saltillo, and the Tupelo sophomore is getting ever-so-close to the elusive 19-minute 5K barrier.

In addition to Morgan, we have the Hernando trio of Jessica Cartwright, Kaitlyn Burge, and Riley Jackson. Cartwright and Jackson had second-place and fourth-place, and fifth-place finishes for season-best times at the 2022 Saltillo XC Invitational. They have progressed well throughout the season, running faster in every race they have competed in, and we can expect them to continue their excellent execution. 

Another name to look out for is the All-MileSplit Mississippi No. 6 Ranked High School Girl, Lucy Littlejohn of French Camp.

Littlejohn dominated the Varsity Girls 1-3A girls race at the Saltillo Invitational, winning by nearly a minute. That has been the story for the French Camp sophomore in every race she has competed in this season. She has consistently progressed and should shape up well against some of the best in the state. 

State Editor's Pick: The 2022 Saltillo XC Invitational part two will take place in Tupelo, Miss. Saturday morning. Except for this time, it's going to be even better with Littlejohn racing up in the Large School race. 

Morgan dethroned Cartwright at the 2022 Saltillo XC Invitational, and with that performance, the two athletes switched on the High School Girls All-MileSplit Mississippi XC team. 

The fact that they are racing again so soon is interesting, and we will have to see if Cartwright and/or Morgan change their tactics. 

However, Morgan going out hard and throwing in gutsy mid-race surges has yet to fail for Morgan, and we are going to guess that the same thing will happen on Saturday - Especially on her home course.
