Varsity Recap
Lucy Littlejohn leading Evelyn Mata-O'Dywer at the 2022 French Camp Invitational
FRENCH CAMP, Miss. --- Lucy Littlejohn sent it in the Varsity Girl's 5k, running away from the field and taking the win in a time of 20:15, breaking her own meet record by 21 seconds. There is nothing more we can say haven't already said in the past. Still, Littlejohn will be a fierce competitor once the weather cools down and she gets into a field closer to her standards.
RESULTS: 2022 French Camp Invitational - Varsity Girls 5K
So far this season, Littlejohn's average margin of winning has been over a minute and a half in the two races she has won.
Evelyn Mata-O'Dwyer took second overall in 21:49, and Sabine Cook was third in 22:14, both hailing from Clinton High School.
Littlejohn led the French Camp Lady Panthers to a win over MHSAA 6A program Clinton High, barely taking the advantage by a mere two points.
Both teams had their top five runners in the top fifteen, but the French Camp girls brought it home when their No. 5 runner crossed the line. That No. 5 runner was Ellen Ulerich, who came through for her team.
The story of the boys' race was much different.
With their top four runners taking the top four spots, Clinton high school nearly swept the boy's race. They won with a near-perfect sixteen points and had their top seven in the top ten. Leading the way for Arrows was JT Price, who took it home in 18:03, and we also saw 1:55 800m runner Miguel Bankston back in action with a runner-up finish of 18:34.

What we predicted versus what actually happened
"Lucy Littlejohn will defend her title and home course. Although we think the meet record is a goner, she might have to wait for cooler weather and a deeper field to get the course record of 19:30.
There is not too much to dissect here, as we basically called this one spot on. Littlejohn is a dominant presence on the grass, and nothing changed at her home course on Saturday.
It should be noted that Mata-O'Dwyer stuck her nose in there and finished higher than we expected.
As for the boys, Their usual low-stick Christian Parks isn't quite race-ready yet, but Price picked up the slack and took the easy win.
