Howdy Folks, it's your favorite coach on the coast here to give you The Run Around.
The season has begun, and I'm excited.
Today I'm going to give a recap of the 2-mile race I hosted at Saint Stanislaus.
There were four divisions - HS Boys, HS Girls, JH Boys, and JH Girls. The course was flat but WET! 12 teams in total turned out and the racing was muggy, wet, hot, and AWESOME!
Let's start with the High School Girls' race.
First, we'll look at the team scores, remember it takes five runners to register as a team. Pearl River Central (PRC) came away with the win with Our Lady Academy (OLA) finishing second.
Your lead runner was from PRC, Hannah Mitchell led the field by almost a minute as she clocked a 13:56 on a soggy course. Your second-place finisher was also from PRC, Mia Ramsdell finished in 14:52. Third place went to Kailey Taylor with a time of 15:58.

Now the High School Boys. Saint Stanislaus (SSC) won the day with a team score of 42. SSC has won this meet in each of its five years. Pass Christian finished as Runners-Up.
Dallas Stricker of Heritage Christian clocked an 11:34, slower than his PR but as I said, the course was soggy.
Pass Christian's Trae Baily finished second in a time of 12:22. SSC's own Cameron Gremillion finished third in a time of 12:32.

Let's talk about Junior High!
These kids were spirited and had a great time competing. On the Girls' side Ocean Springs ruled the day with a team score of 16, that's nearly perfect. Pass Christian came in second with Hope Academy coming in third.
Ocean Springs' Caylee Ano won the day with a time of 13:55. Henrietta Doxie of OLA busted up the perfect score as she ran 15:19. Coming in on the podium in third was Anniston Patano with a time of 15:46.
The Junior High Boys race was led by Ocean Springs' team with SSC finishing second. SSC had two runners lead this race most of the way but cramps set in opening the door for Gavin Spiers from Heritage Christian Academy to take the win. He ran 13:01. Landon Seitz from Ocean Springs came in second with Carson Lord finishing third.
The best part of the day was awarding the Forster Commagere Sportsmanship Award. I was pleased to award this prize which is based on Sincerity, Sportsmanship, and Character - 3 ideals that were important to Coach Commagere. Coach Hindman from PRC Graciously accepted this honor for his team and for his school. He runs a first class operation.
Well, that was how we spent our Saturday morning. I look forward to seeing y'all as the young season advances.
That's it folks, see you on the course!
