Analysis: Gulfport's Mallory Streetman snagged her Miss. #1 800m ranking back from Cartwright with her 2:23 win from the 2022 Carey High School Challenge. Streetman, a Mississippi State distance signee, won this race by seven seconds, and is slowly inching down towards breaking the 2:20 800m barrier. On average, Streetman is opening up her season much quicker than last season, as she did not run this quick last year until May at the 2021 MHSAA 6A State Championships. 

Streetman and Jessica Cartwright of Hernando are very competitive against each other for that Miss. High School Girls #1 800m spot and they haven't even raced each other yet. We can expect an 800m battle for the ages this year at the 2022 MHSAA 6A State Championships.
