Looking Ahead Mississippi Outdoor Track & Field Calendar

All things considered, this outdoor season could be very interesting. Covid is still wreaking havoc even looking at a large number of meets. Many districts are limiting the number of schools that can be at a meet and limiting how far a team can travel to a meet. So many teams will be sticking close to home for the majority of the season. I am not criticizing the districts it is just going to be a fact of life this year.

Of course in the "Old Days" like when I ran most of our meets were that way with many being just dual meets between "wait for it"' two schools. I did not travel to a big away meet until I moved to Alabama in the middle of my junior year and we got to go all the way from Montgomery to Mobile for the Southeastern relays. We ran district in Montgomery and went to State at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama.

I look forward to the outdoor track season no matter how we run it, just want to see those athletes compete. By the way, if you look at the bottom of the calendar it is far from complete with most of April still blank plus no MAIS or MHSAA or Homeschool State Meets.
