There are a number of good athletes that set some great times in the very short 2020 season. The 100 meters started exceptionally strong with seven underclassmen under 11 seconds. Jordan Anthony Tylertown led the pack with a fine 10.61 with a 2.2 meters per second tail wind. In the distance events

Kevin Cooley, George County led both the 1600 meters and 3200 meters with 4:37.99 and 10:10.00 respectively.

The shot put was going to be very interesting with Dedric Hicks, West Jones heaving the 12 pounder 50'5". While in the discus Niquez Wade, Pearl High started the season with 155'9" throw. The high jump provided sparks for the future with Camrun Norman, Hattiesburg High jumping 6'10". It was in the pole vault that the heights started early with freshman (2020) John Scott Kendricks, Oxford High vaulting a fine 14'9" that was the freshman national leader at the time.
