The upcoming meet for Cathedral Unit School is only a few days away, and runners are itching with excitement.
The course will be held at Duncan Park Gulf Course located in Natchez, which has been Cathedral's stomping ground for 5 years running. This meet is great warm up for state, as its relatively flat so tons of runners can shave some time down. The terrain is mostly grass and great for spikes or flats.
The Cathedral boys' team has had a continuous winning streak at their home meet for quite some time now. Competition is fierce this year, as new schools have registered.
These times, are from a virtual meet and are based on prior meets from earlier this season.
Ryan Skates from Cathedral Unit School has had an excellent season with a time of 16:44, but Preston Speed, Alex Stradinger, Charlie Hight, and Alex Roberson from Jackson Preparatory, are all predicted to place in top 7 which could lead them have foot in the door for a great finish in taking home a shiny, new trophy.
On the girls side, Julia Stradinger, Jackson Preparatory, 19:48 could do quite well. She will be going against Rachel Garmon, 20:43, from Saint Aloysius HS, who won the MRA Invitational. Julia and her teammates , Gracie Atkinson, Olivia Smith, and Havens Smith all have a chance to place in the top 10.
Time will tell for runners, since the varsity races will be exciting to watch and it's a great tune up for state meet.
