Here's a look back at all the XC action in Mississippi this past week.
Monday Sept. 9
Jackson Prep Invitational
The races were shortened to 2 miles due to weather. Plus the 2 mile course was a little short.
Tuesday Sept. 10
JPS XC Challenge Meet 3
Grayson Edwards, Northwest Rankin led the boys race but gave up his time to carry a US Flag across the finish line in honor of the fallen on 9-11. The boys team title went to Northwest Rankin.
Aubrey Britt, Loyd Star was the easy winner in the girls 5K clocking her season best time of 20:50.97. In the girls team race Northwest Rankin make it a clean sweep of the team titles.
Middle School Challenge Meet 2
The middle school race was run mixed with both boys and girls in the same 3200 meter race. Jacob Bond, Ocean Springs Middle School won the boys race and led his team to the team title. Michelle Brown, Ocean Spring Middle School won the girls title as her team also won the team race.
Saturday Sept. 14
Warrior Classic
David Cox, Southaven won the boys race in 17:59.20 while Senatobia won the team title. In the girls race Anna Clark, Senatobia won the individual race in 20:52.60 leading her team to the title.
Tupelo XC Invitational
1A-3A Race: Mia Card, Baldwyn won her race in 20:28.61 while Kossuth won the team title. Jes Patrick, Kossuth won the boys race in 18:37.00 and his team won the team title in a close race 34 to 35 over Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science.
Madison Jones, Saltillo won the girls race in 20:00.36 and her girls team won the title. Walt Johnson, Oxford won the boys race in 16:47.97 but Saltillo won the team title.
Gulf Coast Stampede
The top Mississippi girl was Madison Walker, Biloxi 20:34.60 in tenth place. Christian Balcer, East Central 16:41.50 in fifth place was the top Mississippi boy.
Clarkco Invitational
Emma Claire James, West Lauderdale won the girl race in her season best of 20:07.50. Brandon High won the girls team title. Noah Bowlin, Brandon won the boys race in 18:17.50 leading his team to the boys team title.
Olan Welch Invitational
Brooklyn Biancamano, Long Beach ran with ease to win the girls race in 18:44.75 but is was Pass Christian taking the team title. Mason Watkins, Picayune won the boys race in 16:20.58 to take over the state best time of the year for boys. Fontainebleau, La won the boys team title over Saint Patrick.
