Here's a look at a bust weekend of racing in Mississippi-
Azalea City Classic - East Central High, Ocean Springs and Pascagoula are at the Azalea City Classic in Mobile this evening. If the heat is anything like yesterday it might effect the times. Mostly flat course usually produces some fast times.
Saturday
Chickasaw Trails Invitational - Wow over 3200 athletes are registered to run at this meet. Corinth High (66) and Tupelo Christian Prep (37) will be at this meet. There could be lots of fast times here.
Foster Commagere Classic - This is a unique meet. Run on the track for 2 miles it will take a while to run the number of athletes registered. It will be interesting as after the meet is over coaches then send their team results to Hoka the coaches get a pair of running shoes. Heats will have to be run in some of the divisions,
Hickory Flat Invitational - One of two meets run in North Mississippi. A total of 26 teams and 678 entries. Several team will come down from Tennessee for this event. Some good times are usually produced on this course so look for some fast racing.
Mooreville XC Invitational - The second of two meets in North Mississippi. Eighteen teams and 554 entries makes this meet a good one to attend. Saltillo with its running hordes (107) will be one of the top teams along with Pontotoc and Tupelo.
Madison Classic - With an earlier start time this 4K race meet will produce fast times with the schools entered. A total of 26 teams have 659 entries with some of the best Class 6A Mississippi schools entered Ruston (LA) is entered to help boost the chance of a great race.
West Lincoln High School. Fifteen teams with 323 entries will make this an interesting race. Northwest Rankin is one of the better teams entered.
All in all this will be a big weekend of racing, however, the heat will be a big factor with 100 degree temps projected across the state. Add in the humidity it could produce 110 degree heat index. Coaches make sure your athletes are hydrated and have water at the finish of your races.
