2020 Southwest Jr. High District Championship

Dear Track & Field Coach:

We are looking forward to hosting your school at the 2020 Southwest Jr. High District Championship on Tuesday, March 31, 2020, @ 4:00 p.m.  The meet will be held at Brookhaven High School in Brookhaven, MS. 

The meet will consist of boys and girls. The entry fee is $100 per team ($50 girls/$50 boys). Winning teams will be awarded trophies and individual Ribbons being presented to the first three places in each event.  Included in this document is a coaches information sheet and schedule of events.

Each team may enter two (2) participants in every event except for relay events. One team for relay events.  

Concession stands will be available for all teams. Teams must set up in the designated area of the visitor bleachers and warm-ups will be on the visitor's side of the football field.  Discus and Shot Put events will be held on the practice field. You will exit the northeast gate to get to the practice field. 

The hospitality room will be available for coaches and officials in the field house meeting room.

Timing System will be used to dictate winners.

If you will be running a little late, we will go ahead and begin on-field events and your athletes can jump in once you arrive.

COACHES INFORMATION SHEET

  

  • Athletes may participate in a maximum of four (4) events including relays, (2) athletes for each running event and (2) athletes for each field event!!!!!!

  • Scoring:10 - 8 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1

  • Relay Scoring: 10 - 8 - 6 - 4 - 2 

  • All running events will be finals with sections against time as needed.

  • On the first call athletes are to report to the Clerk of the Course.  Athletes that do not report will be scratched. On the second call athletes will be released to report to the starting line or exchange zone areas.  On the third call athletes are to move on to their assigned positions/lanes on the track.  

  • The discus and shot put events are located on the practice field located northeast of the football field!!  Athletes can warm up on the visitors side of the football field. 

  • Starting Blocks will be provided!  

  • Meet Awards:

    • Ribbons -  1st, 2nd, & 3rd Places in all events 

    • Team Trophies  - 1st Place Teams (boys and girls)
