Several Mississippi high school track and field athletes set personal records at meets during the first week of April.
Brandon Bland (Houston High School) ran 15.86 in the 110m hurdles at the Oxford Invitational on April 2, improving from his previous best of 21.83. The mark ranks him #81 in Mississippi and #21 among seniors. Bland also set personal records in the 300m hurdles (41.33, down from 48.73) and triple jump (37-1.75, up from 30-10) at the same meet.
Kelsey Perkins (Heritage Academy) ran 12.56 in the 100 meters at the Sanders Invitational on April 1, breaking her previous personal record of 13.29. The time is a school record for Heritage Academy and ranks her #69 in the state and #22 among juniors. Perkins won the event in a field of 14 competitors.
Pearson Cochet (Regents of Oxford) clocked 12.24 in the 100 meters at the Colt Relays on April 1, improving from her March mark of 12.59. The freshman set a school record and ranks #23 in Mississippi and #2 among freshmen. Cochet also ran a personal record 26.23 in the 200 meters, down from 26.93.
Maurice Hall (West Point High School) ran 10.63 in the 100 meters at the Oxford Invitational on April 2, cutting nearly a second from his previous best of 11.54 set in March 2025. The senior ranks #16 in the state and #9 among seniors after his second-place finish in a field of 45 runners.
Malikk Millbrooks (Olive Branch High School) ran 16.26 in the 110m hurdles at the Oxford Invitational on April 2, improving from his March time of 18.12. The junior ranks #132 in Mississippi and #32 among juniors. Millbrooks also set a personal record in the 300m hurdles with a time of 42.92, down from 45.15.
ArLysia Hales (Northeast Jones HS) ran 12.55 in the 100 meters at the Forerunner Open on April 4, improving from her March personal record of 12.89. The junior won the event in a field of 62 competitors and ranks #66 in the state and #20 among juniors.
Willow Hobson (Northwest Rankin HS) cleared 5-2 in the high jump at the Fleet Feet Track Classic on April 4, improving from her previous best of 5-0. The sophomore won the event and ranks #26 in Mississippi and #4 among sophomores. Hobson also set a personal record in the 300m hurdles with a time of 49.97, down from 51.80.
