Mississippi Outdoor Breakthrough Performances: Week of March 30

Several Mississippi high school track and field athletes set personal records at meets during the first week of April.

Brandon Bland (Houston High School) ran 15.86 in the 110m hurdles at the Oxford Invitational on April 2, improving from his previous best of 21.83. The mark ranks him #81 in Mississippi and #21 among seniors. Bland also set personal records in the 300m hurdles (41.33, down from 48.73) and triple jump (37-1.75, up from 30-10) at the same meet.

Kelsey Perkins (Heritage Academy) ran 12.56 in the 100 meters at the Sanders Invitational on April 1, breaking her previous personal record of 13.29. The time is a school record for Heritage Academy and ranks her #69 in the state and #22 among juniors. Perkins won the event in a field of 14 competitors.
