Hattiesburg High School has established itself as the top team in the current MHSAA 6A girls rankings, and the Tigers have done it with strength across nearly every event group. From standout individual performers to a strong relay corps, Hattiesburg has built one of the deepest lineups in the classification.
Sprinters and Hurdlers
The Tigers are especially strong in the sprint and hurdle events, where several athletes rank among the best in 6A. Tamea Miller leads the way with the No. 1 ranking in the 400m, while Judawn Porter holds the No. 1 spot in the 300-meter hurdles, No. 2 in the 200m, and No. 3 in the 100-meter hurdles. Nyla Flowers adds even more firepower with the No. 1 ranking in the 100-meter hurdles. Jayla Dixon gives Hattiesburg another pair of top-five marks, ranking No. 5 in the 100m and No. 4 in the 200m.
Distance
In the distance events, Hattiesburg has picked up key points in the 800m. Ta'Layia Jones currently ranks No. 3 in 6A, while Kenya Morris comes in at No. 5. That gives the Tigers another solid event group and adds to the team's overall balance.
Field Events
The field events may be where Hattiesburg shows its greatest range. Tamea Miller is ranked No. 1 in the triple jump and is tied for No. 1 in the long jump, while Judawn Porter is also tied for No. 1 in the long jump. Nyla Flowers ranks No. 1 in the high jump and No. 2 in the triple jump, giving the Tigers multiple top-end performers across the jumps.
Hattiesburg also has strong depth elsewhere in the field. Kennedy White ranks No. 5 in the triple jump, Alana Buckhalter is No. 4 in the discus, and SaRiyah Cooley sits No. 6 in the shot put. In the pole vault, Ralyn Johnson is tied for No. 3, while JaMaya Toussaint is tied for No. 5.
Relays
The Tigers' relay group only adds to their case as one of the top teams in 6A. Hattiesburg is currently ranked No. 1 in the 4x400-meter relay, No. 2 in the 4x100, No. 2 in the 4x800, and No. 3 in the 4x200. That kind of relay strength gives the Tigers another major advantage heading deeper into the season.
