MHSAA 1A
2022 MHSAA 1A State Champion Dave Woullard, a Richton High School athlete, set the new class lead in the Triple Jump with a mark of 39-10.5 while competing at the MHSAA Division 8-1A, 8-2A, & 5-5A meet.
Simmons High School's Antoine Washington set two new class leads at the MHSAA Division 5-1A & 4-2A meet, with throws of 137-8 in the Discus and 42-7 in the Shot Put and winning both events.
Simmons senior Jamira Scott ran a major lifetime best of 13.01 seconds in the 100m dash, securing the MHSAA 1A in the event in the process.
Aaliyah Esco secured MHSAA 1A leading marks at the MHSAA 5-1A Championships, taking wins in the 200m and 400m in the process. Esco, a junior from Simmons High, remains undefeated this season and look to defend her title in her specialty event.
South Delta's R'Renua Ousley hurdled to a lifetime best in the 100-meter hurdles of 17.50 seconds, and now leads MHSAA 1A by over half a second.
MHSAA 2A
At the MHSAA Division 5-2A meet, Ken Young from Velma Jackson High, set the new class lead in the 100m dash with a time of 10.95.
Demarius Yates of Kemper County High School, also running at the MHSAA Division 5-2A meet, ran a mark 22.65 in the 200m dash to set the new class lead.
Heidelberg High School's Tyler Thames set the new class lead in the 110m Hurdles with a time of 15.99 at the MHSAA Division 8-1A, 8-2A, & 5-5A meet.
Mark Pittman from Eupora High School set the new class lead for the Long Jump with a mark of 21-6 at the MHSAA Division 2-2A & 4-4A meet.
While competing at the MHSAA Division 5-1A & 4-2A meet, O'Bannon High School's Derion Dillard set a new class lead in the Discus with a throw of 126-1.
The class lead for the Shot Put now belongs to Alex Miller of East Marion High School after throwing 45-5.5 at the MHSAA Division 7-2A & 7-4A meet.
Amia Wright started the postseason with a bang, putting down MHSAA 2A leading marks of 12.20 seconds and 25.60 seconds in the 200m at the MHSAA 3-2A Championships.
Middle School sensation Ally Murphy, the reigning MHSAA 2A Cross Country Champion, now leads MHSAA 2A in both the 800m and 1600m.
Terrica Coleman, the reigning MHSAA 2A 400m Champion from Leflore County, leads MHSAA 2A in her specialty event thanks to her win at the MHSAA 4-2A Championships.
Stringer's Reagan Jones put down a 13:26.2 to win the MHSAA 8-2A Championships, good enough to lead MHSAA 2A.
At the MHSAA 4-2A Championships, JaMiya Leahman leaped to a lifetime best of 17-3 and now sits atop MHSAA 2A in the event.
East Union's Briley Lesley secured a lifetime best in the Pole Vault of 9-6, and now leads MHSAA 2A in her specialty event.
Pine Grove's Skiver Burch placed fourth at the 2022 MHSAA 2A Track and Field Championships in the Discus, but now finds herself at the top of MHSAA 2A rankings after a lifetime best 88-1.5.
Adrinae Aikens of East Marion threw a lifetime best in the Shot Put of 33-2, good enough to now lead MHSAA 2A.
MHSAA 3A
Adrianna Branch, a sophomore from Booneville High School, ran a lifetime best of 12.10 seconds in the 100m dash to win the MHSAA 1-3A title, and now leads her respective classification in the event.
Reigning MHSAA 3A Champion Nakyiah Walker of Independence High School lowered her class-lead in the 200m to 25.83 seconds at the MHSAA 2-3A Championships.
Alcorn Central had three MHSAA 3A-leading marks last week; Ellie Pellizzer inched closer to the 60-second barrier in the 400m, sophomore Ella Tucker ran a lifetime best of 2:36 in the 800m, and throws specialist Mattie Mynatt threw 98-8 in the Discus.
MHSAA 4A
Senatobia High School star Carlando Crump set the new class lead in the 200m dash with an impressive time of 21.40 at the MHSAA Division 3-2A & 3-4A meet, winning the event.
Anson Lewis from Columbia High School set the new class lead in the Long Jump at the MHSAA Division 7-2A & 7-4A meet with a mark of 22-11.
Also from Columbia High School, Devron Cloyd set the new Triple Jump class lead with a mark of 44-8 at the MHSAA Division 7-2A & 7-4A meet.
Hannah Sanders, the reigning MHSAA 4A Cross Country Champion and current MHSAA 4A leader in the 800m, lowered his 1600m lead to 5:35.8, doing so at the MHSAA 2-4A Championships.
Corinth's Elsie Wilbanks, who finished runner-up to the aforementioned Sanders at the 2022 MHSAA 4A Cross Country Championships, now leads MHSAA 4A in the 3200m run heading into the postseason.
MHSAA 5A
Hattiesburg High School's Javarius Molden shares the class lead in the 300m Hurdles after running a time of 39.07 at the MHSAA Division 8-1A, 8-2A, & 5-5A meet.
Brodie Ezell from Brookhaven High School set the new class lead in the Shot Put with a throw of 52-0 while competing at the MHSAA Division 6-5A meet.
MHSAA 6A
At the MHSAA Division 3-6A meet, Horn Lake High School's Floyd Sinegal set the new class lead in the 100m dash with a time of 10.55.
Grayson Foster from Madison Central High School set the new class lead in the 400m with a standout time of 48.79 while at the MHSAA Division 4-6A & 3-5A meet.
The class lead for the Triple Jump now belongs to Sterling Scott of Starkville High School after his mark of 50-11 at the MHSAA Division 1-6A meet.
Zharia Bonner not only ran a MHSAA 6A lead, but also ran the state lead in the 100m dash at 11.92 seconds.
Clinton's lady hurdlers had a day at the MHSAA 4-6A Championships; Corshunna Hughes performed a MHSAA 6A lead in the 100-meter hurdles, while Kaitlyn Jones tied the Mississippi lead in the 300-meter hurdles at 44.43 seconds.
MSAIS 2A
Trey Martin from Riverdale Academy LA secured the class lead in the 800m run with a time of 2:30.10 at the Tensas Academy Invitational.
With a time of 19.36 for the 100m Hurdles, Hays Bennett from Briarfield Academy set the new class lead while at the Tensas Academy Invitational.
Also from Briarfield Academy, William Woodall set the new class lead in the 300m Hurdles with a time of 51.31 at the Tensas Academy Invitational.
Dallas Stricker from Heritage Christian Academy set the new class lead for the Pole Vault with a mark of 10-0 at the PCS Invitational VI.
Mt. Salus's Emma Fults grabbed two MSAIS 2A leads in both hurdle events, as well as another MSAIS 2A lead in the Triple Jump, winning all three events at the Centreville Academy Tiger Classic.
Fults' teammate, Ivy Savidge, jumped 14-10 to secure another MSAIS 2A lead for Mt. Salus Christian.
MSAIS 3A
Qua Johnson out of Sylva Bay Academy set the new class lead in the 100m dash with a time of 11.61 at the Canton Academy Classic & MSAIS JH 3-4A, 2-3A meet.
Brody Boyd set the new Triple Jump MSAIS 3A lead with a mark of 38-2 at the Canton Academy Classic & MSAIS JH 3-4A, 2-3A meet.
Sylva Bay freshman Jaci Ainsworth leaped to a lifetime best of 4-10 in the High Jump, and now leads MSAIS 3A.
MSAIS 4A
Stratton Terrell from Tri County Academy set the new class lead in the 3200m run with a time of 11:10.69 while competing at the Canton Academy Classic & MSAIS JH 3-4A, 2-3A meet.
From Canton Academy, John Thomas set the class lead in the 110m Hurdles running 16.90 at the Canton Academy Classic & MSAIS JH 3-4A, 2-3A meet.
The High Jump class lead is now held by Walker Wasson of Tri County Academy after his mark of 6-0 at the Jackson Academy Relays.
Centreville's Kynslea Hurst, just an eighth-grader, ran a lifetime best of 2:36.7 on her home track at the Centreville Academy Tiger Classic, good enough to now lead MSAIS 4A.
Mallory Golden ran the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 17.24 seconds, a lifetime bests and new MSAIS 4A leading mark.
MSAIS 5A
Pillow Academy's Ruben Martinez now holds the class lead for the 400m with a time of 51.67 done at the Bayou Academy JH District 1-5A meet.
Also at the Bayou Academy JH District 1-5A meet, Brandon Daniel of Bayou Academy set the new Long Jump class lead at a mark of 20-8.
At the Jackson Academy relays, Bayou's Catherine Sanders hurdled to a lifetime best of 17.12 seconds for a new MSAIS 5A leading mark in the 100-meter hurdles.
MSAIS 6A
AJ Parker from Jackson Academy set the new class lead for the 100m dash at the Jackson Academy Relays with a time of 10.89.
Hartfield Academy's Mike Jones now holds the 200m dash class lead after running a time of 22.79 at the Jackson Academy Relays.
The 800m class lead now belongs to Elliot Davis of Jackson Preparatory School after he ran a time of 2:06.41 at the Jackson Academy Relays.
From Madison Ridgeland Academy, Jake McMillan set the new class lead in the 110m Hurdles with a time of 15.50 at the Jackson Academy Relays.
Also from Madison Ridgeland Academy is Trace Hendon who now holds the class lead for the Pole Vault after his mark of 13-6 from the Jackson Academy Relays.
Olivia Smith from Jackson Prep ran not only a MSAIS 6A lead, but also a new state lead in the 800m with a time of 2:21.5.
Mae Ellen Mallet stunned MSAIS 6A in the 1600m with a time of 5:22.1 at the Jackson Academy Relays, and now leads MSAIS 6A in both the 1600m and 3200m.
Homeschool
Lana Hester of the Tupelo Spartans ran a lifetime best of 2:35.9 to win the Centreville Academy Tiger Classic, setting a new Homeschool lead in the process. Additionally, Hester added another Homeschool lead in the High Jump with a mark of 4-6, also set at the Centreville Academy Tiger Classic.
Julianna Hamilton secured not just one, but two Homeschool leads in both the 1600m and 3200m, setting herself up nicely as the Mississippi Homeschool Track and Field Championships approaches.
Emma Rolison of the Hattiesburg Forerunners secured a Homeschool lead in the 100-meter hurdles, running 18.53 to finish second at the PCS Invitational.
At the same meet, Emily Taylor of the Knight Hawks ran 51.44 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles, also a Homeschool lead. However, Taylor wasn't done yet, as she also jumped 15-1 to secure another lead in the Mississippi Homeschool Division.
Jack Thomas, a freshman on the Hattiesburg Forerunners, ran a blazing-fast time of 53.29 seconds in the 400-meter dash, good enough to lead all of the Mississippi Homeschool Division. Thomas also leads the 100m and 200m events.
Sam Johnson of the Tupelo Spartans blazed the track in the 3200m in a time of 9:55, becoming the first-ever Homeschool distance runner to break the 10-minute barrier.
Hattiesburg Forerunners hurdles star Michael Barnes ran a Mississippi Homeschool leading of 16.43 seconds. However, Barnes is also a jumps star, and raised the bar in the High Jump to 5-10.
Fellow Forerunner Bradley Kelly also had a day in the Triple Jump, jumping 39-11, a new lifetime best and Mississippi Homeschool lead for the Hattiesburg, Mississippi native.
