John Scott Kendricks breaks Miss. HS Boys Outdoor PV record

OXFORD, Miss. --- Oxford High School's John Scott Kendricks has cemented himself as one of the best pole vaulters in Mississippi High School Boys Track and Field history. Kendricks broke the Mississippi High School Boys Pole Vault state record at the Oxford Relays with an impressive jump of 17 feet and three-quarters of an inch.

The Arkansas signee's jump not only set a new state record, but also proved to be a hard-fought victory. Bentonville, Arkansas pole-vaulter Cade DeWitt jumped 16-4.74, a lifetime best, and pushed Kendricks to his limit.

This historic achievement is made even more impressive by the fact that Kendricks took the record from his older brother, Sam Kendricks, who currently holds the American record in the Pole Vault.
