John Scott Kendricks breaks Miss. HS Boys Indoor PV record

BATON ROUGE, La. --- Oxford High School's John Scott Kendricks showed up and showed out at the 2023 LSU High School Classic, breaking the Mississippi High School Boys Indoor Pole Vault record with a vault of 16-5.25. This impressive mark surpasses the previous record, held by 2015 Saint Patrick graduate Anthony Del Vescovo, by a mere half an inch.

Kendricks, who is set to compete in track and field for the University of Arkansas in the Fall of 2023, went into the competition as the top seed and certainly did not disappoint.

His national-caliber athleticism earned him the No. 1 spot and solidified his place as a favorite to watch in future competitions. Lastly, the University of Arkansas signee now sits at No. 2 in the United States in the High School Boys' Indoor Pole Vault.

Next up for the 2022 MHSAA 6A Pole Vault Champion is the Arkansas High School Invitational, where he will be gunning for a new personal best of 17 feet at his future training facility. With his impressive track record and dedication to training, there is no doubt that Kendricks has the potential to continue breaking records and making a name for himself in the world of track and field.
