Birmingham, AL --- On Saturday, December 10, Heidi Hudson of Sumrall High School broke not one, but two Mississippi High School Girls Indoor State Records in both the High Jump and Long Jump.
Hitting a mark of 5-8 in the High Jump, she surpassed the former record of Madison Central's Asia Poe by two inches. Her new PR of 5-8 was also sufficient to win the 2022 Holiday Invitational by eight inches.
However, Hudson's day was not over yet. In the Long Jump, she leaped to a distance of 18-3. This was more than enough to take the win and catapult her to the top of the Mississippi High School Girls Indoor Record list, replacing Erica Bougard, a 2011 graduate from Byhalia High School, by half an inch.
In the 2022 Outdoor Track and Field season, Hudson was undefeated in both the long jump and high jump, amassing 16 wins.
At the 2022 MHSAA 4A Outdoor Track and Field Championship, Hudson won the High Jump with a mark of 5-6 and the Long Jump in 18-7.25, amassing four state titles as a result. Her outdoor PR of 5-8 also places her top 5 in Mississippi Girls' Track and Field history.
Look out for Hudson for the remainder of the indoor season and outdoor season as she looks to climb more of the Miss. All-Time rankings.
