BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- On Sunday, Dec. 11, Julie Segroves of Biloxi High School(formerly D'Iberville High School) broke the Mississippi High School Girls Indoor Pole Vault record with a mark of 12-0.5, taking the record from Maggie Waites of Saint Aloysius HS, class of 2015. This mark was also good enough to win the 2022 Emerging Elite Winter Invitational by 7.75 inches.
Segroves is coming off an outdoor season in which she garnered 13 total wins out of 14 competitions, as well as a lifetime best of 13 feet, which is currently No. 2 All-time in Mississippi High School Girls Track and Field history. At the 2022 MHSAA 6A Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Segroves placed second to Northwest Rankin's Katelyn Hulsey. Segroves then came back two weeks later to win the 2022 Mississippi Track and Field Meet of Champions, beating Hulsey in a tiebreaker.
Up next for Segroves is the 2022 Pole Vault Expo held in Belton, Tex. on Saturday, December 31.
