In total, approximately 280 Mississippi High School Boys improved their 5K personal record from 2021 to 2022, with Tupelo Christian's Brett Miller being the top improver taking four minutes and 35 seconds off his 5K PR.

A close second is Oak Grove sophomore Grayson Taylor (pictured above), who went from barely breaking 21 minutes in the 5K to consistently breaking 17 minutes and was a key athlete for the Warrior's success during the 2022 Cross Country season. Taylor also finished inside All-MHSAA 6A position at 14th at the 2022 MHSAA 6A Cross Country Championships.

Other athletes that dropped over four minutes from 2021 to 2022 include Stone Berg of West Lauderdale, Ethan Fisher of George County, and Charles Williams of Richland.

Other athletes who dropped significant time and are now performing near the top of the Mississippi High School Boys Cross Country scene include Tristan Bryan of Regents of Oxford, Chandler Ray of Falkner, and Sidney Stegall of Heritage Academy.
