Varsity Recap

GULFPORT, Miss. --- It was a very tight race for the top three runners at the 2022 Admiral Invitational. Tate Castleman, Landon Ahrens, and Matheson Chen battled it out to take the victory.

Ultimately, Castleman of Ocean Springs ended up winning with a 5K time of 17:04, with Long Beach's Ahrens not far behind in 17:12. Chen, Castleman's teammate, clocked a 17:20 to round out the podium with two Ocean Springs in the top three.

Castleman, just a sophomore, and Ahrens went home with new 5K PRs, and all three on the podium ran 2022 season bests.

Add the fact that Ocean Springs High School had three more runners in the top ten, resulting in a very dominating performance. They dominated the 2022 Admiral Invitational with a score of 21 points and were the only team to break 100 points.

The three-headed dragon of the Rainey sisters and Litton is a dangerous trio. They're a fierce pack who work together very well in races, and although Ocean Springs went down two spots in the overall team rankings, we're still keeping our eye on them.
