Coming this Fall, Mississippi's first-ever All-Star cross country meet will be held in November of this year! This meet will feature only the best that the state has to offer, and each athlete and team will be hand-picked and selected based on each of their performances in the past cross country season.
It's still early, and only a little bit of information has been released, but here is what we do know:
- The meet will be held on November 13 at Choctaw Trails (Jackson, MS)
- If you are an individual or team state champion, you have an automatic qualifier to the meet -- these types of qualifiers will get special, custom-made backpacks.
- If you are an individual member of the MileSplit Mississippi All-State Team (of the last ranking), you have an automatic qualifier to the meet.
- If you are the top runner or team in your respective 'Metro Region', you have an automatic qualifier to the meet -- these types of qualifiers will get other customized gear.
- If a team's 1-5 average is faster than 18:40 on the boy's side and 21:40 on the girl's side, they will have an automatic qualifier to the meet. -- **IMPORTANT - This must be done AT CHOCTAW TRAILS**
The 'At-large' selection process for teams and individuals has not been released yet, but it has been discussed that the selection process above has the likelihood of not being the only way to qualify. There will also be a small entry fee to run in the meet (if you are selected).
Mark your calendars, because this is going to be the meet of the century, and we will get to find out who is TRULY the best in the state!
