Sanders runs #2 200m time in the Nation

It seems like every time Sanders steps onto the track, she keeps climbing up the record list.

This past weekend at the Atlanta Georgia RelaysMadison Ridgeland Academy's Kennedi Sanders, one of the top track and field athletes in the nation in the class of 2022, dropped a blazing 23.05 in the 200m dash. This time is not only the #2 in the nation, but it is also the second fastest time EVER in the state of Mississippi by a Mississippi High school girl, right behind Bianca Knight. And we know the kind of resume that Knight went on to build for herself.

Sanders has stayed busy this past month - she tripled at her state meet, taking the win in the 100m, 200m, and the 400m. This performance included a 23.36 200m and a 53.54, both PR's at the time. She then came back at the Mississippi Meet of Champs and essentially soloed a 53.19 in some heavy wind, taking the 400m state record, according to our records, in the process. (*UPDATE* - Bianca Knight has run 52.94 at Jr. National Meet in Eugene, Oregon) She wasn't done yet, though, as she ran the high school section 100m at the elite Adidas Boost Boston Games, placing 3rd against some of the top sprinters in the nation running 11.36, just off of her PR. And Sanders has continued her progression in Atlanta, running even faster, and showing no signs slowing down any time soon.

Sanders also ran the 400 in Atlanta, tying her PR of 53.19. She won both races that she competed in.

Once again, and surely there will be more in the future, Mississippi MileSplit offers a HUGE congratulations to Sanders on her efforts. We are sure that sub-23 and sub-53 are well on Sander's way this summer.
