Mississippi XC Saturday Preview

WOW! It will be a busy weekend for Mississippi High Schools. Nine meets are on the calendar with three in North Mississippi alone.

The Horn Lake Eagle Classic has seven teams with 81 athletes registered. This meet should showcase Adam Gomez, Desoto Central with his 16:54.77 leading the field.

Down south at the Olan Welch Classic it will be Brooklyn Biancamano, Long Beach leading the way on Long Beach's new course. 

I am not sure who is running in the Allstate sugar bowl as they did not use us for registration. 

The Border Dash does not have any Mississippi School attending this year. 

The Clarkco Invitational in Quitman, Mississippi features Emma Claire James, West Lauderdale against Lauren Entremont, Brandon in the girls race. If this new course proves to be fast both of these young ladies could break 20 minutes. This new meet has 12 teams and 296 entries.

The French Camp Invitational still has the entries open but has 11 teams with 177 entries. However, it could be interesting as the Lafayette boys and girls could sweep the team races. 

Several of our teams are headed out of state to the Gulf Coast Stampede in Pensacola, Florida. Biloxi Varsity, East Central, Oak Forest Academy, Ocean Springs, and Saint Stanislaus will join 50 teams and 1398 athletes is this great meet.

Tupelo XC Invitational is the big Mississippi meet of the weekend. With thirty teams and over 1000 athletes it will have some great races. Walt Johnson, Oxford will lead the way in the boys race while Madison Jones, Saltillo and Jessica Cartwright, Hernando will fight it out in the girls 4A-6A race.

The Warrior Classic has 13 teams and 268 athletes competing in a close race.
