Ansley Long, Cedar Creek, La. led the Louisiana sweep of the individual Varsity races at the MC High School Season Opener with a 20:12.80.
Mary Elizabeth Woodward, Starkville was the top Mississippi finisher in second place in 20:45.18.

In the team race it was Brookhaven in an upset win over Ocean Springs and Pearl. It looks like they are going to be a power this year in girls cross country. It was only a 2 point win over Ocean Springs so it was close.
