MSTrack: Why did you choose the University of Memphis?
Claire: I wrote letters to the schools I would like to attend then I visited those that replied. I wanted to go somewhere different from where most of the runners in Mississippi were going. When I visited the campus I was impressed and knew that Memphis was where I wanted to go. Besides they offered me the best deal. My academics are covered by my grades and the Track and Cross Country covers the dormitory and my books.
MSTrack: What do you plan to study.
Claire: I plan to major in Biology with an emphasis on Pre Med.
MSTrack: How about your school life at Saltillo.
Claire: I have a 4.0 GPA and an ACT score of 32. I am a Star Student and a member of the Math and Science team for 2 years. I have played soccer since the 7th grade and Cross Country and Track since the 9th grade. Honors: In Cross Country I've been All-State and All-Divison 3 years. A member of the 5A state championship team during all four years of running. I personall finished 5th place this past year with a 15:50 4k PR time.
MSTrack: How about outside of school.
Claire: I attend St. James Catholic Church. I have worked with a student voluteer program run at the Northeast Mississippi Medical Center. I was also selected to be a member of the Electric Power Systems of MS Youth Leadership Corp and I got to go to Washington DC this last summer.
MSTrack: What are your track Goals for this year.
Claire: I would like to make it to State and Medal in both the 1600 meters and the 3200 meters.
MSTrack: What about specific times.
Claire: If I have to say anything I would like to run sub 12:00 in the 3200 meters.
MSTrack:Well Good Luck on the track this season and I look forward to seeing you at the State Meet in May.
