Online Registration Instructions

We are pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Olan Welch Cross Country Classic. This event is a professionally timed event that will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019. Results will be posted on MileSplit MS. The site of the meet will be Long Beach High School; 300 E. Old Pass Road Long Beach, MS. Entry fees will be $100 if you are entering both gender teams and $75 if you are only entering one gender teams. For smaller teams the cost is only $10 per athlete (if that calculates to a cheaper cost than the $100/$75 payment). Make checks payable to Bearcat Running Club, LLC. Entry fees must be paid before the meet at the meet site prior to the first race. Do not mail entry fees without prior arrangement (call 301-919-0336 or email and do not mail entry fees to the school. Please see important entry fee legal note below.

The varsity races will be 5,000 meters. The middle school races will be 4,000 meters. An unlimited number of runners per school will be allowed in all races, however, there is a 45 minute time limit per race. Team champion and team runner-up trophies will be presented in both the varsity divisions. Team champion trophies will be presented in the middle school divisions. The top-10 finishers in all races will receive individual awards.

September 7, 2019: Course maps will be available by request. Coaches are encouraged to come to the campus on or after this date to verify course distances and condition of the course. Please email me with any safety or course length concerns. We will do our best to address all concerns. Teams are also welcome beginning this day to pre-run the course with prior approval (

MEET SCHEDULE on September 14, 2019:

7:15 a.m. 5,000 meter & 4,000 meter race courses open for warm-ups.

7:15 a.m. Coaches may begin check-in & packet pick-up at meet headquarters near the finish line.

8:30 a.m. Deadline for any race or registration changes. After 8:30 a change fee of $10/change paid to the timer will be required.

8:30a.m. Coachs Meeting. Important organizational and safety meeting.

8:55 a.m. Registration table and packet pick-up closes.

9:00a.m. Girls Varsity 5K Race

9:45a.m. Boys Varsity 5K Race

10:30a.m. Girls Middle School 4K Race

11:15 a.m. Boys Middle School 4K Race

11:45a.m. Presentation of Awards at the conclusion of the Boys Middle School 4K Race

The meet will follow MHSAA rules. MAIS and MHSAA schools are invited to attend. 9th grade athletes from MAIS schools must be registered in the varsity race. Unattached and homeschool athletes cannot compete without explicit permission from MHSAA and approval from meet director. Please contact if your team is from out of state and you are interested in registering. We love meeting new out of state teams and faces. During the meet if there is concern of a MHSAA rule violation, three coaches associated with MHSAA schools and not associated with Long Beach School District or the school/athlete in question will adjudicate the outcome of the alleged violation. Decisions by this Jury of Appeals are considered final unless/until an overturn by an MHSAA Cross Country official. The Jury of Appeals will be selected during the Coaches Meeting.

Dangerous Weather: All or part of this event may be delayed or cancelled in the event of lightening, thunderstorms, or other dangerous weather. The decision and liability for canceling or continuing this event is solely the responsibility of school officials employed by the Long Beach School District. Entry fees are non-refundable, but may be later used for future events hosted by the Bearcat Running Club, LLC.

Legal Note on Payments: Bearcat Running Club, LLC is a separate and legally distinct entity from the school district and schools of Long Beach, MS. Since 2015 it has been an independent limited liability corporation registered with the Mississippi Secretary of State (business ID: 1074484) designed to support the cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track programs of Long Beach, MS. While it supports these teams as the principle purpose, it is not a school booster club but a legally separate business entity. The Bearcat Running Club, LLC is considered a vender that is assisting with the hosting and organization of this meet for the school district of Long Beach. Through a recurring agreement with the Long Beach Athletic Department, race entry fees are to be collected via check made payable to Bearcat Running Club, LLC. Any requirements for vender forms from registering schools must be submitted to the Bearcat Running Club at in time to assure on time payment of entry fees by the registering school. W9 forms are available by email request and will also be at the meet headquarters on race day. Checks made payable to other business entities (to include Long Beach School District, Long Beach High School, Long Beach Athletic Department) cannot be accepted and those race entries will have to be cancelled if an appropriate payment agreement cannot be reached prior to the closing of the registration table at 8:55 a.m.
