Meet Information

Long Beach is hosting the MHSAA Division 8 Class 5A Track & Field Championship Meet on Monday April 8th, 2019. The entry deadline is 11:59pm on April 6th, 2019. The meet will be timed by Port City Timing. There will be an independent professional starter for the events beginning at 5:30. Results will be posted on MS Milesplit. On site concessions will be available for purchase.

Each school will be allowed 3 entries per each B/G individual event & 1 entry per each B/G relay events. We will begin the meet with a coaches meeting at 3:30p.m.

Buses will park on the east side of the stadium in the gravel lot across from the stadium on Gardendale Avenue. Your team members and coaches will have their hands stamped as they enter the stadium before the meet. This will allow athletes to participate in throwing events outside the gates and fan to re-enter the stadium after watching those events. The clerk of course will also be on the visitors side (east) and regulate the participants entering the track.

Schools will be required to set-up their team areas on the east side of the stadium (in the grassy area behind the visitor's bleachers) - not around the concession stand. Spectators are encouraged to sit on the west (home-side) of the stadium.

Each school will be assigned a field event to work. Coaches of the participating schools will be responsible for the entire running of that field event. Field event assignments will be made at the coaches meeting. Coaches from each school will be required to help with the hurdles.

Throwing implements must be weighed-in and approved at the meet headquarters on the day of the meet and prior to reporting to the shot put and discus throwing areas. Pole Vault sheets must be completed and turned into the Clerk of Course prior to the Pole Vault Competition.

Length of spikes allowed on any of our running or jumping surfaces must not excede 1/4th" There will be a no false start rule in effect. All running events are girls followed by boys. The top four finishers in each event will advance to the MHSAA Region 4 Class 5A Track & Field Championship Meet. Relay confirmation sheets must be turned in to the Clerk of Course prior to the last event (1600m Relay/4x400m).

ALL running event substitutions will be made prior to the start of the girls 100m Hurdles. Any substitutions after this deadline are subjected to a convenience charge.

Discus: Girls followed by Boys (north of the stadium / across from bus lot)

Shot Put: Boys followed by Girls (south-east end of stadium / outside fence)

Pole Vault: Girls followed by Boys (south end of stadium) Starting heights: Girls: 5'00" Boys: 8'00"

Boys Long Jump followed by Boys Triple Jump (south-end pit)

Girls Long Jump followed by Girls Triple Jump (north-end pit)

5:30 Estimated conclusion of field events. At this meet we will not begin the remaining running events until ALL field events are completed.

Any athletes on the infield who are not participating in a current event and/or have not been released to the infield from the clerk of course for their upcoming event, will be disqualified from competition in the meet. Athletes will not be allowed on the track or on the infield with any electronic devices to include GPS watches (non-GPS watches are allowed). If an athlete jumps the fence on the exterior of the track, they will be disqualified from competition in the meet. Athletes that do not demonstrate appropriate sportsmanship during their event(s) or while on the infield will also be disqualified from the meet. Coaching staff are allowed full access to the competition and clerking areas.

The Jury of Appeals will be Stone, Gautier, and West Harrison. Any concerns will be brought first to the clerk of course. If there is no acceptable resolution, then the Jury of Appeals will determine the best course of action.

You will be responsible for an entry fee charge of $6.00 per each athlete on your division roster. This entry fee is due at the meet site on the day of the meet. You may pay entry fees with a check or a purchase order payable to Long Beach Athletics.
