Chelimo and Robertson Lead ULM at Watson Ford Invitational

 CLINTON, Miss. – Moses Chelimo and Madeleine Robertson led the way for the ULM cross country teams on Friday (Oct. 8) at the Watson Ford Invitational as the ULM women posted a fourth-place finish and the ULM men took home fifth. Chelimo was fourth individually for the Warhawk men while Robertson finished a team-best 10th for the ULM women.

Chelimo crossed the line in the men’s 8,000-meter race in 26:04.89 to take fourth-place, less than a minute behind first-place Darwin Price of Grambling (25:20.39). Seth Hall was the second ULM finisher, earning 12th-place overall with a time of 27:30.90. Jorel Torres also turned in a top-20 finish for ULM, claiming 16th with a time of 28:04.38. Devin Caldwell finished just outside the top-20 for the Warhawks, earning 21st in 28:50.40. Jacob Heckford rounded out the ULM scorers with a 39th-place time of 32:42.08.

The Warhawk men scored 92 points to finish fifth among Division I men’s teams at the meet. Mississippi Valley State took the Division I men’s title with 54 points. 

Robertson’s team-best time for the ULM women clocked in at 24:28.62. Southern Miss swept the first three spots in the women’s 6K, led by champion Stephanie Ledgerwood in a time of 22:44.91. Tyler Blacklock posted a top-20 finish for the Warhawks, claiming 20th position in 25:18.24. Lauren Rosson was the third ULM runner to cross the line, finishing with a time of 27:04.70. Ariana Jones was less than a minute behind with a time of 27:53.32 to claim 39th-place. Jacobi Wilson and Mariko Beverly came in 62nd and 63rd respectively for ULM in times of 34:35.99 and 34:51.88.

In the team competition the Warhawk women claimed fourth among Division I schools with 115 points. Tulane took the title with 44 points. 

ULM will return to Clinton, Miss., next Saturday (Oct. 16) when the Warhawks compete in the Choctaw Open. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
