Cheyanne Alston Dominates at Prince Jones Relays

Biloxi senior Cheyanne Alston again took the state by storm, this time at the Prince Jones Relays.

Alston competed in the 100m, 200m, long jump, and triple jump, a quadruple that she has done two times in a row. Her end result was four season bests, three wins, and a lifetime best of 26.22 in the 200m dash.

Overall, Cheyanne Alston has shown that she poses a threat in multiple events this season, and is making a name for herself on debatably being the most versatile Track and Field athlete in the state.

Julian Winters hits big lifetime best, stays on top

Julian Winters of Madison Central continued his undefeated season by throwing a new lifetime best of 52-0.75, winning the Rumble in the Jungle and beating his old record by over two feet! He is now ranked No. 1 in Mississippi in the event, as well as No. 55 nationally.

After finishing third in the Varsity Boys Shot Put at the 2022 MHSAA 6A Track and Field Championships, Winters has emerged as a title favorite with the kind of form he has shown in the Winter.

Layla Carter Sweeps the Viking Invitational

Layla Carter took the spotlight at the Warren Central Viking Invitational. The Vicksburg junior competed in four events, and went home with four blue ribbons.

Carter won the Varsity Girls 300m Hurdles in a mark of 49.55 seconds, finishing a full second ahead of the second-place finisher. In the Varsity Girls High Jump, she took another win with a mark of 4-10.

However, perhaps the most impressive results of the day came in the Varsity Girls Long Jump and Triple Jump, where she added to her blue ribbon count and set lifetime bests in both events.

Last, but certainly not least, Carter now leads the state in the High School Girls Triple Jump

Julie Segroves continues undefeated streak, leads strong Biloxi contingent

Julie Segroves continued her undefeated season in the pole vault at the Prince Jones Relays, jumping 13-0, two and a half feet higher than the next competitor.

That statistic is as impressive as it is, but another impressive fact to add is that Biloxi High School now has three pole vaulters with the MileSplit MS HSG 1st Team Standards; Segroves, Addison Deeks, and Kate Kuykendall

Could the Lady Indians land three athletes at the 2023 MHSAA 6A Track and Field Championships?
