Non-Gold Divisions Preview at the Watson HS XC Meet

TEAM GIRLS

Saltillo High School - Silver Division

So the reason I didn't put any of the Saltillo Girls in the 'Individual Girls' column is that I'm basically about to talk about all of them right here. In all honesty, their top 3 or 4 could be make case for themselves to be the ones to look out for in the individual battle. Starting off, we have 19:01 5k runner Mia Card. Card was out for part of the season, so it is assumed that she was either dealing with COVID or injury, but she has still put down some solid times in track and last cross country season, so and is still helping out this Saltillo girls team greatly. Then we have Anna Caroline Crouch, Saltillo's low stick this year and is low key a sleeper to take down the Silver Division. All in all, they are the huge favorite to win Silver this weekend, and this will be a good opportunity to practice pack running on the state championship course and potentially get an automatic qualifier to the All-State Meet.

French Camp High School -  Blue Division

Still undefeated this year and probably the best small school in Mississippi this year is French Camp High School. French Camp looks to keep that undefeated record as they are the on-paper favorites in the Blue Division this weekend at Watson. They proved themselves time and time again a lot of big meets this year, including their home meet win when they took down a decent MHSAA 6A program, Clinton High School. They have a very solid low stick who will be going for the win in Lucy Littlejohn, and their 2 and 3 of Taylor Benoit and Averie Jane Gundy are also very solid and consistent performers.

With that being said, definitely watch out for Saint Patrick High School, as they are right French Camp's tail going into this weekend. Expect a lot of 1-on-1 battles between French Camp's and Saint Patrick's 1-5 runners, as that will be the deciding factor on who gets the team win in the Blue Division this weekend.
