OTHER NEWS

- Gabe McElwain won the small school boy's race at Pontotoc in 17:00.23, inching ever so close to breaking the 17-minute barrier. I was thinking that this guy needs to test himself against some good competition, and thankfully, he is - McElwain is another competitor that will be competing in Gold Division at Watson this upcoming weekend.

- The Oak Grove High School Boys smoked their home meet, placing 6 inside of the top 7. The meet was one by Oak Grove's 10:18 3200m runner Bennett Ferguson, snagging his 3rd win in a row this season. The girl's team also won the team title handily, placing 4 inside of the top 6.

- Emily Snodgrass of West Lauderdale won on her home course yet again, as she gears up for MC Watson after having a great outing at The Opener at the beginning of the season.

- The MRA Girl's team has been putting on a clinic as they won Kirk Academy and Pontotoc last week. It seems as if they might have something to say to Jackson Prep being the favorite at the state meet this year..

- Andrew Brown won the Pontotoc XC Invite yet again as he really hasn't had anybody close to him all season. However, that might change, as Saint Patrick has 2 very strong Junior High talents in Tristan Davis and Joseph Ross. Davis is actually the #1 JV runner in the state with his 10:57 2 mile at Ocean Springs - This could set up to be a great matchup in the JV 3k at Watson.
