Starting off this list of exceptional young runners is Charlee Brees Franks of Columbia Academy. She has been a prevalent figure in the past two cross country season with a claim to the individual runner-up position at the MAIS 3A state meet in 2020 and 4th place in 2019.
On top of being considered for one of the top positions in cross country, Franks finished 3rd in both the 1600m and 3200m at the 2021 MAIS 3A outdoor track championship. It looks like Franks will soon be a dominant figure in the MAIS as older runners move on from high school and she acquires more experience.
