Coach Comment: How is your athlete as a person and a competitor? What is his/her best attributes? Ben is a great kid!! He never meets a stranger and is always willing to help out. As a competitor, He maintains a high level of self motivation and sets high attainable goals. He understands teamwork, competition, and can achieve under pressure.

What is your GPA and ACT score? My GPA is a 3.6 and my ACT score is a 16 

Describe why you choose Tennessee Wesleyan College and what you liked on your visit to the college. I chose this college because the coach has created a winning program up at TWU and thinks that I can be very successful in the hurdles. 

Is there any other athlete that might have helped influence your signing. No. 

What are you most looking forward to about your future career as an athlete at College?I am looking forward to competing as a college athlete in the near future. It has always been my dream to be a college athlete since I was a kid. 

What is your favorite workout your Coach has you do?Leg press, calf raises, and squats. 

What is your least favorite workout? Conditioning

What events do you think they'll have you run in track as a freshman? The 110m hurdles and the 400m hurdles. 

What motivates you to run? Just the urge to win. I started running track as a freshman doing the hurdles. 

What do you think about when you're running? Right before the gun goes off I just take a deep breath and tune everyone out. It helps me focus. And whenever I start running I vision myself clearing the hurdles. 

Do you have any superstitions on race day or perhaps an odd pre-race routine? No 

Gatorade or Powerade? Gatorade

Jersey, aka Singlet, tucked or untucked? Untucked.  

Do you have a favorite meal for the night before a race? Just whatever I can find. 

Do you take ice baths? No

Name a lesson that running and training as a runner has taught you. Running hurdles isn't as easy as it looks. 

Do you have a rival runner? No not really. Just whoever runs against me is my rival. 

What do you do to recover after a race? I just sit and relax. 

How do you intend to balance academics and athletics in college?With hard work you can do anything. 

What is the strangest thing you've seen during a race? I haven't seen anything strange.  

Who is your biggest fan? My biggest fans have to be my mom and my dad. They've been to every sporting event I've ever competed in. 

What advice would you like to share with younger runners just starting out their high school careers?If you are going to run track don't do it half way. Go full out because it's a waste of your time, the coaches time, and the other athletes time.
