Hot Temps Does Not Mean Hot Times

Boy those folks up North have no clue what it is like to run Cross Country in the fall in Mississippi. I was afraid to look at the temperature and the heat index yesterday at the JPS Challenge Series Meet #2 at Choctaw Trails in Clinton.

Grayson Edwards, Northwest Rankin ran 17:50.78 in the heat to win the boys race. He was by himself from the start with no one to help push the pace. In the boys team race Northwest Rankin held off Columbia Academy 71 to 77. Columbia Academy was led by Hagen Bracey (18:32.55).

In the girls race, it was Aubrey Britt, Loyd Star by herself at the finish line as she led her nearest competitor by over one minute in 21:15. Columbia Academy led by Charlee Franks (22:59.35) beat Northwest Rankin in the team race 20 to 44.

The times on our web page indicate it was 4K, but it was a 5K race. They will be corrected later this today and entered into the data base.
