CLINTON, Mississippi – The Southeastern Louisiana men's and women's cross country teams made a strong showing at the Watson Ford Invitational on Friday, hosted by Mississippi College.
On the women's side, three freshmen finished among the top 20 runners in the 6k event.
Celia Zaeringer added to her already impressive debut season, placing third overall. The New Orleans native turned in a time of 23:04.33.
Freshmen
Clarissa Smith (23:55.57) and Haley Gregoire (24:19.06) also turned in top times, placing 8
th and 12
th respectively. Out of 22 teams, the Lady Lions placed 4
th overall.
Junior
Harry Wiggins placed 5
th out of 169 runners. The Prairieville native turned in a mark of 26:27.27 in the men's 8k event.
"This was a pretty difficult course," said head coach
Sean Brady. "But our entire team ran well. This is the same length that we will run at conference championships and I was happy to see them compete well at those distances."
Up next for the Lions and Lady Lions is the Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on October 17
th.
